Stain Resistance Test ASTM 1308

Universal Testing & Research Center (Division of Sustainable Stewardship Private Limited), an ISO 17025:2017 certified Laboratory approved by BIS, NABL and QAI.Stain resistance testing is conducted to evaluate a material's ability to resist the absorption and retention of stains. The test methods can vary based on the type of material being tested, such as textiles, carpets, coatings, or other surfaces.

Quality Test Parameters:

1. Carpets and Flooring:

  • ISO 2424:This standard provides a method for testing the resistance of carpets to water and spotting solutions.
  • ASTM D5252: Standard Test Method for Chemical Resistance of Clear, Pigmented, or Printed Coatings is used for evaluating the resistance of coatings to various household chemicals, which can indirectly impact stain resistance.

2. Coatings and Paints:

  • ASTM D1308:Although not specifically for stain resistance, ASTM D1308 evaluates the effect of household chemicals on clear and pigmented coatings, which can be related to stain resistance in some cases.
  • ASTM D5403:This standard is used for determining the volatile content of radiation-curable materials, which may indirectly relate to stain resistance.
